Acupressure Acupressure is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) healing modality that is practiced by many health care professionals, including massage therapists. Many of the same hands-on physical intervention techniques, including the use of hands, elbows and other devices, are used to apply physical pressure to re-stimulate what’s known as meridians throughout the body to bring relief from pain and discomfort and to re-balance the body’s energy systems.
Aromatherapy Aromatherapy makes use of volatile liquid plant materials known as essential oils (EOs) and other scented compounds for helping to positively stimulate a person’s health and mood.
Hot Stone Hot Stone Massage is a healing modality that makes use of Basalt stones of various sizes, shapes, and weight that are heated in water to a relaxing 130-145 degree Fahrenheit range. This modality allows a multitude of benefits, including to relax the stressed muscle tissue, increase blood flow to stressed areas while the therapist makes use of physical pressure to enhance mental, emotional and physical relaxation.
Pre-Natal Massage Pre-Natal Massage is a safe and effective modality tailored to address the special needs that arise with each unique pregnancy throughout, and especially during the second and third trimesters. This is one that is implemented in a way to leave the mother-to-be in a very optimal state of relaxation.
Shiatsu Shiatsu is an evolving form of Japanese traditional hands-on therapy using one’s fingers, thumbs and palms to apply pressure to particular sections of the body to detect irregularities, such as stiffness. This modality is useful in detecting and correcting imbalances and for promoting and maintaining overall health and wellbeing.
Sports Massage Sports Massage is a modality that applies physical pressure to soft and connective tissue as well as skeletal muscles to improve mobility to areas that become stressed due to engaging in specific sports training and competition. Swedish Massage Swedish Massage is a gentle kneading of the muscles that is used to enhance circulation, ease muscle tension, aches, and soreness, and improve one’s overall state of flexibility and relaxation.
